It is the beginning of a new year, with all the possibilities and wonder of a fresh start. I approach these first days and weeks as opportunity of re-fresh my life. Meditation helps me focus on what is important. Meditation recognizes this minute of time as the only minute; full and rich in its possibility.
I am reminded of four virtues:
1. Reverence and awe for all of God’s creation: Thankful each day for all we are given by God. Thankful each day for God’s love. Today I will stop to notice the beauty of all life and all people God puts into my life.
2. Integrity and honesty of self: Reaching into my true self to find the most pure expression of who I am. Far beyond society’s desire for who I am, and beyond my thoughts of who I am. Today I will know with certainty that I am a Child of God, a spiritual being moving in my human body.
3. Kindness to others: From Mother Teresa: We cannot do great things, but small things with great love. Today I will see someone who needs my smile and I will stop and give.
4. Service: I can’t say this better than Maya: “I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver.”- Maya Angelou
To begin anew every day, to begin anew with each minute. It is a new year. Chose to be in the light of God’s love and virtue of God’s power, one minute at a time.
Peace and Happy New Year!
